The Font Series… Oldstyle

Oldstyle fonts were some of the first fonts created, and they were based off of the handlettering of scribes. All Oldstyle fonts have serifs, which are the tiny “feet.” Oldstyle font are different than Serif and Sans Serif fonts because the serifs of lowercase letters are always at an angle and have a curve where they meet the stem.

Oldstyle fonts are good to use because they are a classic and sophisticated typeface.

A few examples of Oldstyle fonts are:

  1. Times
  2. Palatino
  3. Garamond
  4. Sabon
