Modern is the next typeface family we will talk about because it evolved from Oldstyle. Just like Oldstyle fonts, Modern fonts have serifs. However, unlike Oldstyle, Modern font serifs are horizontal instead of slanted.
When set to a large point size Modern fonts can be very striking and have a lot of visual impact. If you need to create more of a visual impact in your design consider using Modern fonts.
